Educational Philosophy

St. Joseph School educates children PreK-4 through eighth grade in the Catholic Tradition. Their mission is to provide a positive learning environment in which every child is challenged to develop his/her full potential: academically, spiritually, and morally in a 21st century learning environment. Each course of study fosters their student’s Catholic identity and shapes them to be models of Christian living for others. It is through this commitment to excellence that allows St. Joseph School – Fullerton students to consistently score higher than average in both Archdiocesan testing and National testing. St. Joseph School – Fullerton was named a 2016 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.

St. Joseph School – Fullerton curriculum overview:

  • Preschool Curriculum – Their PreK-4 curriculum embeds core subjects into weekly units and themes. Students are engaged in multi-sensory, hands-on learning to develop fine motor skills, and auditory and visual learning through using center time, books, songs, and technology. Parents choose St. Joseph School – Fullerton Pre-K program knowing their child is taking part in an early educational curriculum that prepares their child for Kindergarten and beyond.
  • Kindergarten Curriculum – In Kindergarten, their students are introduced to a variety of academic subjects while nurturing each child’s social development through the use of centers and structured, creative play.
  • Elementary School Curriculum – Elementary school students learn in an academically rigorous environment that promotes learning through hands-on lessons, differentiated instruction, and a cross-curricular approach that enhances all content areas.
  • Middle School Curriculum – Their middle school students learn in a departmentalized setting which helps them prepare for the rigors of high school by promoting time management skills, note-taking, and self confidence.

Technology is integrated into every classroom at St. Joseph School – Fullerton. There are multiple devices including Chromebooks for students in grades 3-8 and iPads for students in PreK through first grade to help further students’ learning, and challenge them in an academic setting.

School Traditions

There are so many traditions that St. Joseph School – Fullerton families look forward to every year! Special traditions bring the students, parents, and faculty together and play an integral role in making St. Joseph School – Fullerton feel like home. In October, the school holds a Red Ribbon Parade in which middle school students dress-up in different themes to promote a drug-free message among the younger students. The whole-school Christmas play is acted out by middle school students while each grade sings several songs of praise. As they end the year, students always look forward to field day and class picnics! On the last day of school for the eighth graders, the soon-to-be graduates decorate their family car in their future high school colors/themes while driving around the school campus. It is wonderful to continue these traditions year after year with the school community.

Campus and Facilities

The St. Joseph School – Fullerton campus is located on Belair Road in Baltimore County. There are three main buildings including St. Joseph Church (Fullerton), St. Joseph School – Fullerton, and the St. Joseph Parish Center. St. Joseph Church and School has been a part of the Perry Hall community for over 150 years. While the original school and church buildings no longer exist, they celebrate a rich history. In 2002, the Parish Center was constructed. St. Joseph School – Fullerton takes great pride in continually updating the school building and every summer, they focus on a renovation project.
